This site is dedicated to the propagation of the teachings of Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) through what we have acquired from our beloved Shaikh, Hazrat Professor Hamidur Rahman (daamat barakatuhum). Professor Hamidur Rahman (daamat barakatuhum) is Khalifah (representative) of Maulana Abrar-ul-Haq Sahib (Rh) and Maulana Muhammadullah Hafizzi hujur (Rh); both of them were Khulafah of Hakimul Ummah Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RH). Professor Hamidur Rahman Saheb (daamat barakatuhum) is one of the few living Shaykhs of our time who is carrying on the legacy of Hakeemul Ummah Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (Rh) in a realistic way, inviting people to Quran and Sunnah.
Hazrat Professor Muhammad Hamidur Rahman (daamat barakaatuhum) is one of the leading Islamic personalities in Bangladesh. He delivers Islamic lectures in different forums both in Bangla and English, serving solely to motivate people towards sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Born in Munshiganj in 09 December 1938, he passed Matriculation [SSC] from Islamiah High School in 1955 and attained 21st position. He passed Intermediate [HSC] from Dhaka College in 1957 and secured 13th position in Dhaka Board. In 1961, he graduated in Electrical Engineering from Ahsanullah Engineering College (former name of BUET) and attained 7th position. He served in Siddhirgonj Power Station for two years, in English Electric Company for about six years and then in BUET as Assistant Professor for about 26 years. Interestingly, he joined BUET as Assistant Professor in 1969 and retired himself as Assistant Professor in 1995. For long 26 years he had no promotion. He preferred spending time to acquire religious knowledge and did not go after degrees on worldly education.
After retirement from BUET, he joined IUT [Islamic University of Technology, Gazipur] in the same profession. Subsequently after retirement from IUT, he started serving the same university as a part time teacher. He retired from this part-time profession in 2016.
He is very well known to the Muslim community of Bangladesh. He became a distinguished Islamic personality after being in touch with Maulana Muhammadullah Hafizzi Huzur (rahmatullahi alaihi) for a long time. Though he didn’t go to any Madrasa or Islamic Universitiy, he is still regarded as an Alim [Islamic Scholar] by contemporary Ulama. His lectures are very simple yet compelling. He describes the important aspects of Islam in a very modest way. People, especially who are brought up in secular educational system and engaged in various professions, are likely to be benefited highly from his lectures if they want to lead their life in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet [peace be upon him].
Hazrat Muhammad Hamidur Rahman was a Khadem [attendant] of Maulana Muhammadullah Hafizzi Huzur (rahmatullahi alaihi) for long 13 years and this made him so different from an ordinary English learned man in respect of religious feelings and Ilm. He became “baiat” [allegiance] to Hafizzi Huzur in the year 1974 and was declared as his Khalifa [representative] in 1979. Hafizzi Huzur (rahmatullahi alaihi) died in 1987. Then he became baiat to Maulana Abrarul Haq (rahmatullahi alaihi) in 1989 at Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Maulana Abrarul Haq Saheb (rahmatullahi alaihi) was the only Khalifa of Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (rahmatullahi alaihi) alive at that time. Hazrat Muhammad Hamidur Rahman became Khalifa of Maulana Abrarul Haq (rahmatullahi alaihi) in 1990. So, like all other elders of Deoband, attaining inner qualities [Tazkiyah-e-nafs] was a special focus of Hamidur Rahman Saheb (daamat barakatuhum). As mentioned above, he traversed that path under the guidance of two prominent Khulafa of Hakeemul Ummat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (rahmatullahi alaihi) and became authorized by both of his mentors in due course of time.
In addition to his busy schedule of teaching and running Madrasah -Maktabs , he himself is also a mentor of numerous spiritual aspirants all over the country. He conducts regular sessions of Islamic Dawah in different places for people interested in spiritual improvement.by
